Metro Compactor Service acquires Compaction Plus

Company continues its focus on transforming Canada’s trash

TORONTO – November 21, 2022 –Metro Compactor Service, Canada’s leading expert in waste and recycling equipment and service for over 40 years, is transforming the waste industry once again with the acquisition of Compaction Plus, a premier provider of waste handling equipment in Ontario.

The purchase of Compaction Plus will boost Metro’s rental fleet allowing it to meet growing demand, through a wider selection of equipment. The new, larger fleet can also incorporate Metro’s iSmart technology and Super Service™, thereby offering customers access to proactive maintenance through the entire equipment lifecycle.

Metro will continue to provide its full range of waste services (chutes, waste equipment, maintenance and IoT monitoring) to the commercial, high-rise, and multi-residential markets – allowing a one-stop-shop for waste equipment.

“Today’s announcement give us renewed strength in the industrial space and helps us scale our business to serve the growth in recurring rentals,” said Andrew Strudwicke, President, Metro Compactor Service. “This acquisition also reinforces our commitment to helping customers maintain their equipment lifecycle at optimal cost.”

Metro: A business focused on transforming trash

Metro has made a series of strategic announcements in recent years, including the launch of its iSMART technology in 2019. iSMART is a next-gen, IoT-enabled system that allows for remote troubleshooting and fullness diagnostics on customers’ waste equipment anytime. The company also announced a merger with Wilkinson Chutes in September 2022.

“Metro is focused on fostering a mentality of proactive maintenance in the waste management industry, which in turn yields several benefits for our clients,” said Strudwicke. “This includes reduced service calls, reduced down time, cost-effective repairs and access to our team of highly qualified, expert technicians in the GTA and Ontario.”

As private and municipal hauling costs in Canada continue to grow, facility managers and multi-residential property owners across the country are feeling the strain of increasing costs in their entire waste stream and are looking for sustainable, cost-effective alternatives.

“It’s increasingly important than ever to have a single provider with broad capabilities to help consolidate the residential waste systems from chute to bin,” said Strudwicke. “Our goal is a reduction in the overall carbon footprint of managing residential waste – including fewer trucks, fewer bins, and longer equipment life.”
